Built by first responders. Engineered for what’s next.

We’re a team of nurses, EMTs and clinicians who spent years on the front lines — and watched staffing hold care back. So we set out to bring an outdated industry into the modern world.

  • Clinician-led

Built by people who’ve worked the shifts.

  • Tech-first

A real platform, not a spreadsheet and a phone.

  • Compliance built in

Every clinician verified before day one.

01 — Our story

We saw the gap from the floor.

Our team came up in ICUs, emergency departments and ambulances — the places where minutes matter and a missing nurse changes everything.

Again and again, we watched the same thing happen. A call-out at 5 a.m. A scheduler working through a phone list. A fax with an expired license. A unit running short while everyone waited on a staffing system built decades ago. Healthcare had modernized nearly everything — except the way it finds the people who deliver care.

So we built Heart: a staffing company with real technology at its core. A platform and facility app that let facilities post, fill and manage shifts in minutes — from a desk or from the floor — a clinician app that respects their time, and a team of people who understand the work because they’ve done it.

  • 01

    We worked the shifts

Years at the bedside and in the field taught us what good coverage feels like — and what it costs when it fails.

  • 02

    We saw the gap

Phone trees, spreadsheets and paper credentials were slowing care down. The tools hadn’t kept up with the work.

  • 03

    We built the fix

A web dashboard and facility app, plus a clinician app — all connected in real time and backed by real people.

  • 04

    We keep raising the bar

Every release starts with feedback from the floor — from the schedulers, DONs and clinicians who use it daily.

Our vision

To bring healthcare staffing up to the modern standard — a seamless experience for every facility, and the respect every clinician has always deserved.

02 — The challenges we set out to solve

Staffing’s oldest problems, finally fixed.

The issues facilities told us about most — and how the Heart platform and team take each one off their plate.

  1. 01

    Last-minute call-outs

The challenge: A 5 a.m. call-out leaves a unit short, and the scramble starts with a phone list.

How we solve it: Open shifts go straight to qualified clinicians nearby, and urgent requests are pushed to the people most likely to say yes.

  2. 02

    Phone tag & spreadsheets

The challenge: Coverage lives in texts, voicemails and a shared spreadsheet no one fully trusts.

How we solve it: One live dashboard shows every shift — covered, open or pending — so the whole team sees the same picture.

  3. 03

    No-shows & unreliable coverage

The challenge: A confirmed shift isn’t always a covered shift.

How we solve it: Clock-ins sync in real time, and reliability history helps the right clinicians get matched first.

  4. 04

    Credential & compliance risk

The challenge: Expired licenses and missing documents surface at survey time — or worse.

How we solve it: Every credential is primary-source verified up front and monitored continuously, with alerts before anything lapses.

  5. 05

    Opaque rates & billing

The challenge: Surprise rates and invoices that don’t match the timecards behind them.

How we solve it: Rates are clear before a shift is filled, and every invoice ties back to approved timecards.

  6. 06

    Clinician burnout & churn

The challenge: Good clinicians leave when they’re treated like a number.

How we solve it: Flexible shifts in their own radius, weekly pay and real human support keep great people coming back.

  7. 07

    Reporting overhead

The challenge: PBJ and staffing reports eat hours every quarter.

How we solve it: Staffing data is captured as shifts happen, so reports are ready to export when you need them.

03 — Compliance, built in

How we make sure every clinician is ready on day one.

Our process follows Joint Commission standards for health care staffing — and it never stops after onboarding.

Quality & Compliance
  • 01

    Verify

Licenses and certifications are confirmed directly with issuing boards through primary-source verification.

  • 02

    Screen

Background and criminal checks, OIG/SAM exclusion screening and drug screening before any placement.

  • 03

    Validate skills

Skills competency checklists, BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications and immunization and TB records reviewed.

  • 04

    Monitor continuously

Expirations and sanctions are tracked automatically, with renewal reminders sent through the Heart app.

04 — What we built

Technology on both sides — people behind it all.

A dashboard and app for facilities, an app clinicians actually like, and a team that picks up the phone.

05 — What we believe

Values that aren’t just on a wall.

Three principles that shape every feature we ship and every call we take.

  • 01

    Clinicians first

If it isn’t good for the people doing the work, it isn’t good for patients — and we don’t do it.

  • 02

    Technology should disappear

The best tools stay out of the way. Fewer clicks, fewer calls, more time for care.

  • 03

    Quality, never optional

Every clinician vetted, every credential verified, every shift accountable.
